Wimbledon 2009 Quarterfinals: Women Singles
TweetOne of the oldest tennis tournament in the world today is on its quarterfinals already. The Wimbledon 2009 already commenced last June 22 and expected to conclude on the 5th of July. Men and women of the tennis world from different countries will meet again to get the crown of glory for the singles, double and mixed categories. Last year’s Wimbledon champ were Rafael Nadal (Spain, Men), Venus Williams (USA, women), Daniel Nestor/Nenad Zimonjic (Men Double), Serena Williams/Venus Williams (Women Double) and Bob Bryan/Samantha Stosur (Mixed).
Serena Williams
Serena Williams (Wimbledon 2008 runner-up) will play against Victoria Azarenka today on Centre Court for the right to join Wimbledon’s version of the Final Four. Azarenka has been considered one of the most likely to prevail in this year’s tournament after the Williams sisters. The 19-year-old Belarusian beat Serena in the most recent of their three encounters – in straight sets in the final of Miami earlier this year.
